Museum of Digestion,
suggests new relationships with past and present members of Yenikapı/Langa, a region located in the historical peninsula of Istanbul. It stages encounters with thistles, ants, bones, cow dung, mycelium and many other subjects mentioned in our complementary publication, Museum of Exhalation. At this site, you can tune in to their questions; breath and digest together.
The installation consists the following sections:
We recommend that you pick up a copy of the book at the entrance and visit the water dispenser, the trellis, the digestion column, the outlines and the garden. If you are not in a hurry, find yourself a quiet place to sit, and spend some time witnessing the presence of these subjects. You can give your own interviews or enjoy reading the experiences of the scientists, historians, geologists, and anthropologists who contributed to the Museum of Exhalation.
The garden hosts plants from Langa and other bostans, which have been living together in this new space since June 2022. These mostly edible plants are periodically infused into the water in the dispenser and offered to visitors.
